What is Candy AI?

Candy AI (candy.ai) is an AI companion service for adults, run by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta. It launched in 2023 and is now one of the most heavily advertised names in the category. You can chat with a large library of pre-made characters, realistic or anime, or design your own companion's looks, personality, voice and relationship type.

Candy is a web app. There's no official native app from EverAI. Mobile users are pointed to an "add to home screen" web app, and independent reviewers warn that store apps using the Candy name may not be official.

Key features

Unlimited text chat. Chat is unlimited on Premium and doesn't cost tokens. That's the biggest value in the plan. Trustpilot reviewers most often praise the chat quality and how different the characters feel from one another. A common tip from long-term users is to learn how to prompt for longer replies, because the defaults can be short.

Character creation. The builder covers style, ethnicity, body, hair, personality, voice and relationship type. According to the help centre, custom characters are now made on a newer "V2" engine for better realism and consistency.

Images. You can ask a character for a picture in chat or generate one directly. Third-party breakdowns put a standard image at roughly 4 tokens. Candy doesn't publish per-item token rates on its pricing page, so treat that as an estimate. Users praise overall image quality, but some complain that specific prompt details like clothing, setting or pose get ignored, and failed generations still cost tokens.

Voice. Voice messages and beta "live audio" calls are available. Calls are reported at about 3 tokens per minute.

Video and Live Action. Candy turns a generated image into a short animated clip, and it also offers scripted "Live Action" scenes on selected characters. Independent reviewers describe clips of up to 120 seconds on some features, which is longer than most rivals. Video is also the most token-hungry part of the app.

Story Mode and memory. Story Mode adds a guided, scene-by-scene narrative on top of the chat. Memory is the weak point. In one analysis of 100 Trustpilot reviews (February 2026), memory lapses were the most-cited complaint, even among 5-star reviewers. The higher Premium Plus tier adds 20 manual memory slots, which helps a bit.

Premium Plus. The official help centre describes a newer tier with 330 tokens a month, 20 memory slots, user personas, chat customization, clone chats and early access to new characters. Its price wasn't shown on the public page we reviewed.

Token top-ups (third-party reports): packs reportedly start at $9.99 for 100 tokens, going up to about $299.99 for 3,750.

Other billing options. One independent review (September 2026) also spotted weekly ($5.60) and two-week ($9.79) billing lines on the checkout. Over a year those cost several times more than the annual plan, so check which option is selected before you pay.

Refunds and cancelling. According to the terms as summarized by independent reviewers, customers outside the EU and UK can request a refund within 24 hours of payment if they've used no more than 20 tokens. EU and UK customers have a 14-day withdrawal right on the first purchase. You cancel from My Profile → Settings → Unsubscribe, and access continues to the end of the paid period.

Payment. Visa and Mastercard plus several cryptocurrencies are reported. Card charges reportedly show as "Everai" rather than "Candy".

Real-world cost. With 100 tokens and about 4 tokens per image, the allowance covers roughly 25 images a month and nothing else. Add regular voice calls or video and most users will need top-ups. One Trustpilot reviewer said they spent close to $300 in a month on tokens. That's an extreme case, but it shows how much the total can grow.

You should probably skip it if you want a companion that reliably remembers what happened last week, if you'll resent paying extra for every picture, or if you want to try a product properly before paying at all. The trial lasts only a few messages.

Message content may be shared with AI model and moderation providers, flagged content can be reviewed by humans, and account data is kept for up to three years after your last activity.
